The Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons are excited to announce the signing of defenceman Charles Phillips for the upcoming 24-25 season!
Charles most recently played for the Blackburn Hawks, where he recorded three goals and eight points in 14 games this season, in only his second season playing senior hockey. Charles is an incredibly promising young defenceman from the Manchester Storm Academy system, and we are extremely excited to see him continue to develop and improve in the Dragons system.
Charles is joining his brother Henry, who is a junior Dragon and one of our first graduating Academy players to the senior team. The Dragons are committed to being a family-first organisation, as well as remaining committed to developing talented young Brits.
On signing with Deeside, Charles said, “I’m really excited to be joining the Dragons! I see this as a fantastic opportunity to work with an experienced and well established coaching team to challenge me and push my development on to the next level. I’m looking forward to being part of a great group of players who work hard and have great camaraderie, and I’m delighted to be icing alongside my brother #64 in this league.”
GM Shaun Bebbington said, “Charles is an excellent signing for Deeside. He is a player that always stood out when we faced Blackburn, and we think we can develop him to even further heights. The first time he joined the Dragons for training he stood out and we knew he would be a good addition to our group. He is only 18, and is only going to get even better. We’re lucky that he wanted to play for the Dragons, and we can’t wait to see what he does for us on the ice!”
