After three long seasons, the Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons are delighted to welcome back James Shaw for the 2023-24 season!

James has spent the last two seasons in the Nottingham Lions system, ading a trip away with the England U23 team in 2022. Last season in 17 games for the Lions NIHL1, he recorded 13 points, but Dragons fans will be extremely familiar with the young forward, as he previously spent four seasons with the Dragons between 2016 and 2020. Another wellknown name around the rink, James is the grandson of Dragons legend Gary Shaw, and we are so glad to welcome him home to the Den for this season!

“I’m excited to return to the Den this year and play in front of the great fans here at Deeside. I look forward to helping the team build on their success of last season and be competitive for the top spot in the league this season. It’s a great opportunity to be able to return to the club I started my career with and to play with many of the players I grew up playing with, and I can’t wait to get on the ice with the team!” James Shaw

“It is fantastic to have James back at Deeside and I am sure he will have an instant impact on our team and fans alike. He is a great skater, very strong on the puck and finishes well when given the opportunity. Welcome home James, we’ve missed you.” Assistant Coach Matt Compton
