In a stunning development that nobody saw coming—especially in the midst of springtime—the Deeside Dragons are thrilled to announce the first-ever Outdoor Winter Classic at the hallowed grounds of Deeside Stadium. Scheduled for December 28th, this must-see Welsh Cup match will pit the Dragons against the Cardiff Fire in a showdown guaranteed to freeze fans’ breath—and possibly their toes!
Embracing the Elements

The Winter Classic will recreate the old-school magic of pond hockey. With the North Wales winter climate promising blustery winds and generous amounts of precipitation, players are preparing to swap their usual warmups for a rousing round of “Defrost the Goalie.” Hot chocolate stands will be placed strategically around the stadium to ensure fans can warm up and watch the action. All credit goes to an exciting, yet-to-be-announced sponsor with the know-how—and the cunning strategy—to make this chilly dream a reality.
Cutting-Edge Cold
No expense has been spared to make this freezing fantasy a reality:
- Freezer trucks parked outside, working overtime
- Jumbo fans set up around the stadium to keep the temperature suitably chilly
- A legion of volunteers standing by with ice cubes (just in case)
Our proprietary technology is definitely robust enough to withstand the typical Welsh winter… right?

A Word from the Club Directors
“Some said it couldn’t be done. Others said, ‘Why would you?’ But here we are—one generator, two miles of extension cable, and a dream. December 28th, history will be made… or mildly inconvenienced by frost.”
—Shaun Bebbington, Deeside Dragons GM
“They told us ‘you can’t build an outdoor rink in North Wales.’ So we didn’t. We just told everyone we did. Bring a coat. Possibly a canoe. Maybe a shovel. It’s going to be glorious.”
—Mikey Rowe, Deeside Dragons Club Director
