Deeside Dragons Join Forces with SHARE

Giving Back with Heart and Purpose in 2025/26

In a world where sport so often mirrors life, the Steel 4 Structures Deeside Dragons are once again proving that their impact goes far beyond the ice. For the 2025/26 season, the Dragons are proud to announce SHARE as their chosen charity partner — a remarkable local organisation that supports families in crisis, people experiencing homelessness in North Wales and Cheshire, and refugees fleeing unimaginable circumstances across the globe.

This partnership is more than symbolic — it’s a statement of intent. One that says community matters, people matter, and that sport, at its very best, can be a powerful force for good.

From Tragedy to Action

SHARE was born in September 2015, sparked by the haunting image of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi, whose small body washed up on a Mediterranean beach while fleeing war-torn Syria. That single photo spurred Mold locals Monica Hogg and Louise Edwards, along with Chester businessman Adam Dandy, into action. What followed was a wave of community-led compassion — schools, churches, and organisations joined forces, donating clothes, essentials, and hope. Within months, SHARE had become a fully fledged charity, and in January 2016, they opened their first shop in Chester.

Today, SHARE runs vital operations in Chester and Mold. In Mold, volunteers sort and distribute donations to refugee camps across Europe and beyond, while also helping local families in desperate need. In Chester, their day centre offers hot meals, clothes, toiletries, and a place of dignity for people who are homeless.

But SHARE offers more than basic survival. The SHARE team offer daily basic aid, but also help to empower people to positively move their lives forwards and engage with rebuilding their lives, or even volunteer on the SHARE team themselves. It’s this vision of dignity, self-worth, and second chances that makes their work so powerful.

A Club That Cares

For Deeside Dragons GM Shaun Bebbington, the choice to support SHARE this season was personal and purposeful.

“Supporting our community is not just something we say – it’s something we live by,” Bebbington said. “As a club, we’re built on the strength of our fans, our volunteers, and the people around us. That’s why we are so proud to support SHARE this season. Their work is both inspiring and vital. From helping the homeless in our region to providing dignity and relief to refugees worldwide, SHARE embodies everything we believe in. It’s about standing shoulder to shoulder with those in need – just like we do on the ice.”

This season, the Dragons are committed to making a real difference: through fundraising events, awareness campaigns, match night initiatives, and hands-on volunteering. Every goal scored and every cheer from the stands will help SHARE continue its mission of turning hardship into hope.

Together, We Share

The 2025/26 partnership is about more than charity – it’s about change. It’s about using the platform of sport to shine a light on local and global issues, and to invite fans to become part of the solution.

So this season, when the puck drops, the Dragons won’t just be playing for points — they’ll be playing with purpose.

Because in Deeside, we don’t just play the game. We support the community. We share.
