Deeside Dragons Launch New Fundraising Initiative with FOQA Sponsorship

The Steel 4 Structures Deeside Dragons Ice Hockey Club are proud to announce an exciting new partnership with FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance), marking the beginning of a long-term fundraising initiative that not only supports the club’s future but also honours the spirit of community and remembrance.

FOQA, owned by Elaine and Chris King, specialises in flight data analysis and aviation safety across Europe and beyond. Formerly of the RAF, the Kings bring a deep sense of service, precision, and community to everything they do. Now based in Nantwich, they have become treasured members of the Dragons family, sponsoring the Phillips brothers Charles and Henry for the 2024–2025 season.

Now in their 70s, Elaine and Chris have found something special in the Deeside Dragons. The club has become a meaningful part of their lives, offering an exciting, exhilarating atmosphere and a welcoming, family-friendly community that they look forward to being part of each weekend, especially through the long winter months. Their connection with the team runs deeper than just sponsorship, for them it has become a source of joy, purpose, and belonging.

Wanting to give something back to the club that has given them so much, Elaine and Chris approached Dragons management with an inspiring initiative to support the team financially while leaving a lasting legacy for future fans and players. Their vision was simple: raise vital funds for the club while celebrating the community spirit that defines the Dragons.

As a result, the Dragons are thrilled to announce the launch of “Themed Shirt Nights,” proudly sponsored by FOQA, with the first event taking place on Remembrance Day 2025. This inaugural shirt, designed in collaboration with FOQA, will serve as a poignant tribute to those who have fallen in service to our country, a cause deeply meaningful to Elaine and Chris given their RAF service.

Each player’s limited-edition jersey will be raffled off on the night, with all proceeds reinvested into the club to fund future themed shirt nights and more. This initiative will provide more fans with a chance to own a unique piece of Dragons history while helping to secure the club’s future.

Shaun Bebbington GM and Director, for Deeside Dragons commented:

“On behalf of the club, I want to personally thank Elaine and Chris for not only their generosity, but for the incredible legacy they are helping to create here at Deeside. Their belief in our values as a family first, community driven club is at the heart of this partnership. At the Dragons, we are proud of our ethos of togetherness, respect, and belonging – qualities that resonate with our players, our supporters, and now with our sponsors.  FOQA’s commitment shows just how powerful it can be when a business and a club align on values, and we hope this inspires others to join us in building something truly special for the future of Welsh ice hockey.”
