Homegrown D-Man Perks Stays a Dragon

Billy Perks Returns to Deeside Dragons for 2025–26 NIHL 1 Season

The Steel 4 Structures Deeside Dragons are delighted to confirm the return of defenceman Billy Perks for the 2025–26 NIHL 1 season.

A Homegrown Dragon

A product of the Dragons’ junior development system, Perks has been part of the club for over a decade. He progressed from the under-16s to become a mainstay on the senior roster. Now aged 24, he is recognised as a calm and disciplined presence on the blue line, providing reliability and consistency at the back.

Since making his senior breakthrough, Perks has built a reputation for playing a smart defensive game with remarkably few penalties. His steady play has added stability to the Dragons’ defensive core. His loyalty to the club has made him a familiar and trusted figure both on and off the ice.

Looking Ahead to 2025–26

As the Dragons prepare for the 2025–26 campaign, Perks’ return brings valuable continuity for a roster aiming to build momentum in NIHL 1. His experience makes him a key part of the defensive unit and a role model for younger players.

Coach Clancy’s words on Billy

“I’m delighted to confirm that Billy Perks has re-signed with the Deeside Dragons for the upcoming season. Billy is a local player who wears his heart on his sleeve and truly passionate about the club. Billy brings an abundance of hard work coupled with the commitment we want to see in this team, he will push for a regular starting place in every game day lineup. His energy, reliability, and passion for the game coupled with being a local guy makes him a key part of our roster. I’m looking forward to seeing him continue to grow and play an important role for us this season.”

Billy Perks on Re-Signing

“I’m incredibly proud and excited to officially sign with the Dragons. This club has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and to represent it at this level truly means everything to me.

From growing up around the team to wearing the jersey, it’s always felt like home—and I can’t wait for what’s ahead. I’m gutted Paz, Snip and Larry are not here this year as they’re a big part of our team and they will be missed.

Thank you for the continued support!”
