FAN FAVOURITE CHARLES PHILLIPS RETURNS TO THE DEN ON TWO-YEAR DEAL!
The Deeside Dragons are thrilled to announce that 19-year-old defenceman Charles Phillips has signed a new two-year contract, keeping him at The Den through to the end of the 2026-27 season!
A graduate of the Manchester Storm junior system, Charles joined the Dragons last season and wasted no time winning over both fans and teammates alike. Calm on the puck, sharp with his decision-making, and always ready to jump into the play, Charles became one of the most reliable and exciting young D-men in the league.
In fact, by the midway point of the season, he was already a fan favourite — with chants ringing around The Den and multiple MVP performances under his belt. His cool head and mature play were a massive boost for the team throughout the campaign.
Across the 2024-25 season, Charles recorded:

✅ 7 goals
✅ 21 assists
✅ 28 points
✅ 14 PIM
✅ Multiple MVP performances
✅ Countless big plays in key moments
He’s the type of player that any team in NIHL North would take in a heartbeat — and we’re proud to say that he’s chosen to commit his future right here in Deeside.
Speaking about the re-signing, Head Coach Clancy said:
“Charles had an outstanding season for us last year. For such a young defenceman, his maturity, work ethic, and ability on the puck really stood out. His MVP awards were well deserved and the best is yet to come. With him locked in until 2026/27, we’re aiming to build consistency and challenge at the top end — Charles only going to keep getting better over these next two years.”
Charles added:
“It’s great to be back with the Dragons! Last season in the den was a great start with the dragons, and I am excited for what’s ahead. I have signed on for 2 more years and I am committed to to being a part of what we are building here. To the fans – thank you for the support every week last season and I look forward to hearing the noise you bring to every game!“
