ACES ARE HIGH: JAYSON BURGESS SIGNS

The Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons are extremely excited to announce the signing of forward Jayson Burgess for the remainder of the 23-24 season!

Jayson is a very exciting young Brit who has just returned from two seasons of playing in the OHA U18 AAA team. Previously he was a part of the Manchester Storm academy, playing U18 as a 15 year old and U15 as a 13 year old! Jayson will be joining the Dragons as part of a 2-way contract with the Altrincham Aces. He joins Dalton Thompson as the second player from the Aces to sign a 2-way contract with the Dragons this season, and is another example of Deeside’s commitment to developing and nurturing young homegrown players.

“I am excited to be joining the Deeside Dragons and to have the opportunity to be a part of a great team and organisation. I hope to help the team perform well through the second half of the season and into playoffs.” Jayson Burgess

“I’m really pleased the Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons can announce the signing of the very talented Jayson Burgess through our connections with the coaching team and management of the Aces organisation. Jayson isn’t new to me as a player, I’ve had the privilege of working with him on hockey camps I organise here in UK with Endeavour Sports and have watched him grow in a very talented Manchester team.

We believe we will be a great fit for Jayson in helping him develop as he steps into senior hockey at only 16. Don’t be fooled by the age, he’s an extremely talented youngster that will become a fan favourite in no time at all. Welcome to the team Jay!” Head Coach Mike Clancy

“Jayson has a great hockey pedigree and has played at a high level throughout juniors. As soon as we found out he was available we knew he would make a great addition to our squad and reached out to him. We expect him to make a great impact on the team as we fight for league position as over the next 2-3 months. He has already settled well into our fantastic group.” Assistant Coach Matt Compton

“I am really pleased to see that where we have positioned the Aces has shown a successful transition through the ranks for one of our players yet again. When I found out that Jayson wasn’t returning to OHA, I of course gave him the option to continue to play with us at NIHL 2. However, after seeing him play with us over the Christmas period it was evident that he needed to be pushed to NIHL 1 ASAP so he can continue to build on was he has gained from his junior career at OHA and with the MSA. I’m excited to continue to work with Jayson on a 2-way basis and look forward to seeing his development with Mike and the Dragons in an environment I’m sure he is going to thrive in.” Elliot Bayne, Head Coach of the Altrincham Aces

Jayson will be making his debut for the Dragons tomorrow afternoon against the Widnes Wild! Tickets are still available online!
