The Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons Are Back!!!

Deeside Dragons Ice Hockey Club Are BACK!!

After two years off the ice, the Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons Ice Hockey Club is back.

Our first game in over two years takes place on Sunday the 2nd of October against the Sheffield Scimitars. Our first home game is set for Sunday the 13th of November against Scottish side the Solway Sharks. Our full fixture list can be seen further down this page.

As a club, we have had one of the biggest challenges restarting the team after a two-year pause due to our rink becoming first a field hospital and then a vaccination clinic for the COVID-19 pandemic. All our volunteers have worked so hard and the new coaching management has assembled an exciting and competitive team. The club’s new head coach, Mike Clancy, is also the coach for the Team GB women’s national team, who most recently won Gold in the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship Division II Group A.

We have come back one league higher than where we left off in 2019 and have built an exciting line-up of talent with an increased number of the team local to the club. As a not-for-profit volunteer-run club, we put all our energy into making sure we offer North Wales, The Wirral & Cheshire the best possible ice hockey we can.

Ice hockey is a sport that is played over three 20-minute periods of fast-paced action that offers something totally different to other sports. With downtime between periods, you get a real chance to socialise, chat & catch your breath from all the excitement!

We still have some sponsorship opportunities available for any local companies who want to support our club and ensure Deeside can go from strength to strength. We have already had a brilliant response from the local business community who are entirely on board with the club’s community-focused and not-for-profit philosophy.
