The Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons are delighted to announce the re-signing of their charismatic captain, James Parsons. Known by fans and teammates as “Snip”, James is a pillar of the Dragons’ community, embodying the values and spirit of the club.
James is excited to be back.
James expressed his excitement about the upcoming season, saying, “It’s always an honour to have the opportunity to play for this great club, even with all the setbacks with the rink, and the back-to-back fixtures last year, the team finished the season strong. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve with a normal schedule. The Den was a special place to play last season and the atmosphere was fantastic. It was a fun place to play. See you in September – Snip.”
Parsons’ resilience, determination, and performance have always shone, especially during last season’s challenging fixtures. His leadership has been a driving force behind the team’s success and his return heralds great expectations for the Dragons.
Coach’s view
Coach Marc Lovell expressed his satisfaction with the return of the team’s stalwart. “It’s great to have Snip back on board for another year to lead the group. Snip is Deeside through and through and is a team-first guy, which is great to have and he’ll do whatever it takes on the ice and off it to make the club successful. He puts up good numbers every year he plays and is always up there in the points charts come the end of the season, which is invaluable to the team.”
Parsons’ contributions extend beyond the ice as he’s actively involved with Aura in reinvigorating the Deeside Dragons Junior Ice Hockey Club. He’s demonstrated his commitment to developing the next generation of Dragons, dedicating significant time and energy to fostering younger talents. Lovell added, “He’s done a fantastic job getting the junior set up at Deeside going again which is a testament to his commitment to Deeside, and hopefully, there will be a few younger players that step up and show the same commitment he has throughout the years.”
