Match Report: Whitley Warriors vs. Deeside Dragons

The Deeside Dragons continued their hot streak with a commanding 7-2 victory over the Whitley Warriors, securing their 8th consecutive win and locking in 2nd place in the league table. The Dragons broke the deadlock in the second period, showcasing their dominance throughout the game, while the Warriors were left struggling to keep up.

1st Period: Stalemate

The first period saw both teams battle hard without finding the back of the net, despite the Dragons having a clear advantage in shots on goal, outshooting the Warriors 12-5.

2nd Period: Dragons Take Flight

The Dragons found their rhythm in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals. Ross Kennedy opened the scoring on the power play at 20:40, assisted by Jakub Hajek and Marc Lovell. Jared Dickinson followed up with a brilliant even-handed goal at 25:57, thanks to Hajek’s setup. Dickinson then added another goal at 30:01, with assists from Alex Parry and Jayson Burgess.

3rd Period: Finishing Strong

The Warriors managed to find the net twice in the third period, but the Dragons answered back with four more goals of their own. Jakob Hajek started the scoring frenzy at 48:07, followed by Jake Witkowski and MJ Clancy adding their names to the scoreboard. Witkowski’s goal at 56:15 was an absolute cracker. Jake picked up the puck on the red line and skated hard towards the Warriors’ keeper. A Warriors player came sliding in to challenge him, but Jake casually hopped over the player and then dinked the puck past the Warriors’ keeper to score a spectacular goal. Hajek sealed the game with a final goal at 59:58, assisted by Witkowski and Ross Kennedy.

The Dragons were relentless offensively, tallying 41 shots on goal compared to the Warriors’ 23. The physicality of the game showed in the penalty minutes, with the Dragons spending 22 minutes in the box and the Warriors accumulating 28 minutes.

The Dragons now face 2 games on the road starting on the 3rd of November with an away trip to Nottingham Lions (7:20 PM face-off). This should be streamed live on the Lions YouTube page. Then, we have a trip to Hull Jets on the 9th of November. The Dragons’ next home game is on the 10th, when we welcome the Solihull Barons to the Den. Last time the teams met in September in the away fixture, the Dragons came away with a 7-2 victory.
