Dragons 3 – 2 Barons

In a thrilling and closely contested game of ice hockey, the Deeside Dragons secured a dramatic overtime win against the Solihull Barons, coming from behind twice to win 3-2. The game was played at Deeside Ice Rink, and the Dragons were hoping to build on their recent good form with a win against the Barons.

The game started off in a cagey manner, with both teams looking to establish control of the puck and create scoring opportunities. The first period ended without any goals being scored, but the Dragons were the team that looked more dangerous, with some good chances created by their forwards.

In the second period, the Barons took the lead just 55 seconds in, with Phillip Mulcahy scoring past the Dragons’ goalkeeper. The Dragons quickly responded to this setback, however, and just 18 seconds later, Petr Valusiak scored the equaliser, assisted by Jared Dickinson and James Parsons. The goal lifted the spirits of the Dragons’ players and fans, and they started to dominate the game, creating several good chances to score. However, it was the Barons who scored next, with Richard Crow finding the back of the net at the 22:32 mark of the period, to give them a 2-1 lead. James Parsons then scored the equaliser for the Dragons in the second period, with a brilliant goal in a one-on-one situation with the Barons’ goalkeeper, to tie the game at 2-2, at the 30:03 mark of the period. Both teams had chances to score and take the lead, but some good saves by the goalkeepers and some solid defensive play ensured that the game remained tied at 2-2 at the end of the second period.

The third period saw both teams trying to find a way to score the decisive goal and take the regulation win. The Dragons had some good chances, with their forwards putting the Barons’ defence under pressure, but they were unable to convert any of those chances into goals. The Barons also had some chances of their own, but the Dragons’ goalkeeper made some good saves to keep the game tied. Despite some end-to-end action and a number of near-misses, neither team was able to score in the third period, and the game went into overtime.

The Dragons started off brightly in the extra period and were soon putting pressure on the Barons’ defence. And just 56 seconds into overtime, Petr Valusiak scored his second goal of the game, with assists from Ross Kennedy and Alex Parry, to secure the win for the Dragons.

The win was a great result for the Dragons, who showed great character and determination to come back from behind twice to secure the win. They will be hoping to build on this result in their next game, which is against the Whitley Warriors at home, TODAY the 12th of March. The Dragons will be looking for another win, and they are calling on their fans to pack out the Deeside Ice Arena and support the team. #BeMoreDragon
