Dragons 11 – 2 Lions

In the first period of the game between Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons and Nottingham Lions, the Dragons wasted no time in taking the lead with a goal from #55 Ross Kennedy just 56 seconds into the game, assisted by #79 Petr Valusiak and #7 Alex Parry. However, the Lions quickly responded with a power play goal after 2 minutes 55 seconds, taking advantage of a penalty called on the Dragons’ #23 Si Furnival for Boarding. Despite this setback, the Dragons showed their resilience and retook the lead in the 6th minute with a spectacular goal from #22 Karl Bacon, assisted by #72 Chris Jones and #9 Gary Dixon. Although the Dragons dominated the rest of the period, they were unable to score any more goals.

The Dragons really kicked into gear in the second period, with #79 Petr Valusiak scoring his first goal of the game just 1 minute and 25 seconds into the period, assisted by #55 Ross Kennedy and Captain #13 Matt Wainwright. The Dragons continued to pile on the pressure and #55 Ross Kennedy scored his second goal of the game in the 24th minute with a powerful shot that bounced off the pipes, with #91 Marc Lovell and #7 Alex Parry involved in the build-up play. Just over a minute later, #61 Jared Dickinson scored an impressive goal from the blue line, assisted by #55 Ross Kennedy and #13 Matt Wainwright. The Lions managed to pull a goal back on the power play in the 27th minute, with #28 Kieran Gibbs getting on the score sheet. However, the Dragons did not let this setback affect them and quickly responded with #7 Alex Parry scoring his first goal of the game 5 minutes later, assisted by #13 Matt Wainwright and #55 Ross Kennedy. The Dragons continued to dominate, with #79 Petr Valusiak scoring his second goal of the game 4 minutes after that, assisted by #55 Ross Kennedy and #13 Matt Wainwright. The second period finished with the Dragons leading 7-2.

#7 Alex Parry

In the third period, the Dragons showed no signs of slowing down and continued to dominate. #79 Petr Valusiak scored his hat-trick goal just 18 seconds into the period, assisted by #55 Ross Kennedy. Just 30 seconds later, it was #55 Ross Kennedy’s turn to score his hat-trick goal, with #79 Petr Valusiak and #7 Alex Parry providing the assists. Kennedy continued to impress and scored his fourth goal of the game in the 47th minute, with #79 Petr Valusiak and #72 Chris Jones providing the assists. The Dragons scored their 11th and final goal of the game with just 3 minutes left on the clock, with #7 Alex Parry scoring his second goal of the game, assisted by #79 Petr Valusiak and #55 Ross Kennedy. The final score of the game was 11-2 in favour of the Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons.

The MVP for the Dragons went to #22 Karl Bacon, who scored a memorable goal in the first period. Overall, it was a fantastic team performance from the Dragons, with every player contributing to the win.

Looking ahead to the upcoming game against the Blackburn Hawks on March 26th, the Dragons will be looking to end the season on a high note. Despite facing some challenging periods this season, including no ice and no training, the Dragons have shown that they never give up and always strive to #BeMoreDragon. The game against Blackburn Hawks is sure to be an exciting game and the players are really hoping that the fans can pack out the Den to celebrate the return of ice hockey to Deeside after our 1000 days of no ice hockey In Deeside.
