CHARITY OF THE YEAR

After tallying up the votes from our Charity of the Year poll, the Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons Ice Hockey Club are excited to announce the winner!

This year, the Dragons will be working with Down Syndrome Cheshire, a charity to help empower people with Downs Syndrome to live the life they choose! We have designed a special charity warm-up jersey for the Dragons to wear and will be donating throughout the season to Downs Syndrome Cheshire.

“Our charity was founded in 2007 by a group of parents, who realised how important it is to connect with other people in order to share experiences. Our aim is to provide opportunities for parents, carers, siblings and extended family networks to have fun in a fully inclusive environment, where a child with Down’s syndrome is one of many, rather than one of a few. We run regular support activities for people with Down’s syndrome and their family members and we are here to support you!”

“When we approached the Dragons family for suggestions for a local charity, Down Syndrome Cheshire had a wave of support. A local charity that’s run by a dedicated group of parents whose main aim is to connect with other people to share many different experiences. The management group see the importance in the Dragons being an inclusive environment which welcomes everyone into our club. We look to welcome all with Downs Syndrome to the Den to enjoy our game night experience and are thrilled to support such a fantastic Charity!” GM Shaun Bebbington
