Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons Give Back to the Community

The Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons ice hockey team, have demonstrated their commitment to the community by donating £750 to Down Syndrome Cheshire, their chosen charity for the 2022/23 season. The club’s generosity stems from funds raised through the Own & Loan sale of the team’s warm-up jersey, which incorporated the charity’s logo and colours into its design. The club also sold gingerbread sock cookies.

After a hiatus of over two and a half years, the Deeside Dragons have returned to the ice, eager to continue their community engagement. The team’s home rink had been utilised as a vaccination centre during the pandemic, temporarily side-lining the players. Undeterred, the club made it a priority to re-establish its charity work upon its return, selecting a cause to support and raise awareness for in the process.

Fans of the Deeside Dragons were invited to vote for a charity to receive the team’s support, ultimately choosing Down Syndrome Cheshire. This local organisation is dedicated to empowering individuals with Down syndrome and their families, providing resources, support, and advocacy for the community.

Club representatives shared their excitement about partnering with Down Syndrome Cheshire, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to such a worthy cause. The donation will help the charity continue its vital work in supporting those with Down syndrome and their families throughout the region.
