Founded in 1974, the Deeside Dragons carry the honour of being the oldest ice hockey team in Wales. Our legacy is built on perseverance, community service, and an enduring passion for the sport.
After a 2.5-year hiatus, during which our beloved rink was converted into a Covid-19 vaccination centre, we have roared back into action. Our return in the 2022/23 season saw a resurgence of support, with matchday attendance figures up over 50% from pre-Covid numbers, even surpassing those of the Connah’s Quay Nomads. This overwhelming response from our fans not only signifies their loyalty but also reinforces our bond with the local community.
The Deeside Dragons are more than just a team – we are a community-based, not-for-profit organisation, run entirely by devoted volunteers. Every puck drop, every cheer, and every moment on the ice is a testament to the tireless efforts of these individuals who work behind the scenes.
Our mission extends beyond the rink – we are committed to supporting our local community, raising awareness and providing assistance for other good causes within our region. The Dragons serve as a beacon of unity, perseverance, and social responsibility.
