When Does the Season Start?

The Deeside dragons first Game of the 23/24 NIHL division one north season is on the 16th of September 2023 Away to Billingham. Our first home game is a day later on the 17th of September. Visit the Dragons fixtures page for all the latest fixture & ticketing news

Will there be season tickets available

Season Tickets will be on sale until our first home game of the season.

How do I get game day tickets

For the 2023/24 season the Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons will be offering tickets on line up-to the day before the game takes place. you can still get a ticket for the game on the day but will have to purchase the ticket from the main reception at Deeside Leisure Center. Booking tickets online will be cheaper than paying on the day. 

How much does it cost to watch?

For the 2023/24 season there will be 2 pricing structures. 

On Line tickets will be as follows – Adults £11, Children £6, Concessions £9, Family £28*

Pay on the day prices will be as follows – Adults £12, Children £7, Concessions £10, Family £30*

*Family is 2 adults & 2 children under 18

How is the game time structured in ice hockey?

An ice hockey game is typically divided into three 20-minute periods. If the game is tied at the end of regulation, it may go into overtime or a shootout to determine a winner.

How Log does a game of ice hockey take?

with the clock stopping for penalties and you also having to ice resurfacing before periods 2 & period 3, A game will take about 2 hours 20 minutes 

What are penalties and how do they affect the game?

Penalties are given for infractions like tripping, high sticking, elbowing, roughing, and many others. The penalized player must sit in the penalty box for a set amount of time, typically two minutes, giving the other team a power play.

What is a power play and how does it work?

A power play occurs when one or more players from a team are in the penalty box, giving the other team a numerical advantage on the ice. Teams often have special strategies for power plays to exploit this advantage.

What is icing in hockey?

Icing is when a player shoots the puck from behind the centre line across the opposing team’s goal line without it going into the net or being touched by another player. This results in a stoppage of play and a faceoff in the offending team’s end.

How are teams formed and what positions do players play?

A hockey team is usually made up of forwards (centre, left-wing, right wing), defensemen (left and right), and a goalie. Some players may play specific roles such as power play or penalty-killing specialists.

How does a shootout work in ice hockey?

If a game remains tied after an overtime period, it goes to a shootout. Players from each team take turns taking penalty shots against the opposing team’s goalie. The team with the most goals after a set number of rounds
