Matt Wainwright Returns to the Dragons for His 13th Season
The Deeside Dragons are proud to announce the return of a true club stalwart — Matt Wainwright has re-signed for the 2025/26 season, marking his 13th year wearing the Dragons jersey. A milestone that speaks volumes about his loyalty, leadership, and love for the club.
Reflecting on the journey, Matt shared:
“After a tough year personally with plenty of ups and downs, I’m glad to be re-signing with my home club Deeside for a 13th season. I’m looking forward to building on what we’ve started and pushing the club forward.”
Wainwright’s presence on and off the ice has been a constant through many changes at the club. This season, the Dragons will enter a new chapter without long-time teammates and club legends Snip and Larry, something Matt acknowledges will be felt deeply by players and fans alike.
“It will be strange for us all without Snip and Larry — two club legends who’ve left a real mark,” he added.
As the Dragons prepare for the upcoming campaign, Matt’s re-signing provides not only consistency but also a reminder of what it means to represent Deeside.
